Jan Pootman born here in 1644 appears to have been [Johannes "Jan" Pootman] the progenitor of the Pootman/Putman family of the New World in what was later New York, USA. Johannes Pootman married Cornelia Bradt. Their children were Arent, Maria, Victor, David, Catherine, and Cornelius Pootman/Potman. Johannes "Jan" Pootman's name was written on one early records as Johannes Pottmann, which seem to indicate a previous German origin to the family.
