Description

Militia registers is an umbrella term for the administration of conscripts. Conscription was introduced in the Netherlands in 1811. In 1814 it was determined that one militia member had to be designated for every 100 inhabitants. The first Militiewet came into force for this on February 27, 1815 and was replaced two years later by the law for establishing the National Militia.
